Burlap Bubble is a piece that should be recognized easily as Postmodern art. Here I have used the tranquil colors of that era to create a semi organic piece to add into the Simon DeVille collection. Resting on a cool tan background I set this piece in motion. I wanted to allow for some organic feel to the geometric nature of the piece. I chose the rounded boxes and dubbed it, Burlap bubble.
This 20 X 16 acrylic on stretched cotton canvas painting holds true to the inspiration. It has several elements that coincide with the post modern era. As with some of my other works, like Mid Century Modern 1, or Man about town, I wanted to remain true to the principles of that era, clear cut lines and fundamental colors. All present here. We want to keep the tones low and make sure that the overall look does not change. I chose the name Burlap Bubble for that reason. The background reminded me of a burlap bag. Naturally I needed the name to “pop” like this piece does. So, I chose Bubble to call to front the bubble shaped boxes that float above. I needed to connect the piece, so I chose a line connecting the top to the lower. The design really inspired me and I hope that it does the same for you. The idea behind simondeville.com is to inspire and create. Burlap Bubble does both very nicely.
The big idea
Set in a modern interior, this painting will naturally fit right in, and secretly entertain your guests while sipping on their beverage of choice. This is a fun representation that can add charm to any interior space that is based in a brown or natural toned type of environment. With Burlap Bubble on your wall, any entertainment you do will harken to the 1960’s.
